Why did you choose to play a sport in college?
In the beginning of my college application process, there came a point where I officially decided that I wanted to continue fencing for a team in college. Because fencing is both an individual and a team sport, it would have been possible for me to continue fencing on my own outside of school. However, I knew that I was not ready to give up being a member of a team. That decision was one of the best choices that I have ever made. I absolutely love being involved in athletics at Haverford, and I cannot imagine a team that could be better than this one.

Why did you choose Haverford?
There were many significant factors that drew me to Haverford; athletics and academics both impacted my decision to come here. However, I was able to finalize my decision that Haverford was the right school for me through my interactions with Haverford students. The welcoming atmosphere of these students and their campus was refreshing and unique, and I was able to see myself becoming part of this community one day. This school seemed like a home rather than an institution, and I know that I made the right decision in coming here.

What is your favorite team experience?
My favorite team experience so far has definitely been winter training camp. Winter training camp takes place during the last week of winter break and consists of a full week dedicated to fencing. The team lives together and cooks together, and each day is comprised of training and fencing. While winter training camp is a challenging and tiring week, it is also extremely fun and rewarding. It is a great bonding experience for the team, and at the end of the week we are all closer together.

What does being a student-athlete mean to you?
In my opinion, being a student-athlete means that I represent Haverford through both athletics and academics. Whether I am on strip or in the classroom, I feel proud to represent this school and I am motivated to succeed.

What advice would you give a High School student considering Haverford?
I would advise a prospective student to talk to as many Haverford students as possible either while visiting campus or through social media. The students here at Haverford aren't only a part of this school, but we define and shape Haverford as well. Each individual can share a different perspective about life here on campus, and in my opinion the best way to get to know Haverford is by getting to know the students.
