HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior midfielder Perrin Downing scored first for the Haverford College women's lacrosse team on Senior Day Saturday, but the Fords fell 16-7 against the seventh-ranked Franklin & Marshall College Diplomats on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.

Three Fords had two goals apiece for the Fords (11-4, 5-2 CC): team-leading scorer Diana Perry, Megan Gallagher and Kenny Likes.

The Diplomats (12-2, 7-0 CC) came bursting out of the gates to begin the contest, as Brittany Jorgenson notched the first of her five goals just 40 seconds into play. F&M's Mary Mitchell scored 10 seconds later to continue what turned out to be a 9-0 run for the visiting side. Jorgenson added two more goals in that Diplomat run, but Haverford's Downing got the Fords on the board at 7:07 in the first half to make it 9-1.

Gallagher had her first score of the day at 5:42, then F&M's Jorgenson added two more before Likes chipped in the Fords last goal before halftime as the score read 11-3 at the break.

In the second stanza, F&M's Emily Everdell scored at 25:40, and Haverford's Perry notched her first goal three minutes later to put the game at 12-4. F&M's Everdell and Mitchell each scored two goals over the next 10 minutes, while holding the Fords scoreless.

Haverford was strong on the attack in the closing minutes of the contest as it secured goals from Gallagher (4:08), Perry (:39) and Likes (:01).

In goal, Haverford starting goalie Shannon Horn had three saves in 13 minutes of work, going to 10-4 on the year. The Fords' Megan Chenworth came in to make nine saves in 46 minutes. For the visitors, Kelsey Hoffman improved to 11-2 on the year with 11 saves and Kaitlin Hardt saw nine minutes of action in the second half.

Haverford, sitting in third-place in Centennial standings, returns to action on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Ursinus College in conference play. The Fords will finish up the regular season on Saturday, April 27, at Swarthmore at 1 p.m.
