Megan Chenworth Named CC Defensive Player of the Week

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College women's lacrosse goalie Megan Chenworth has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced by conference officials. Chenworth anchored a pair of strong defensive efforts from the Fords who have now won three straight games.

Chenworth posted an 8.33 goals-against average with a 55.9 save percentage in a 2-0 week for the Fords. She turned away 11 shots in the 10-8 win at Muhlenberg and followed that with an eight-save effort in the 8-7 victory vs. No. 20 Dickinson.

Starting her week against Muhlenberg, a team receiving votes in the latest IWLCA Poll, Chenworth made 11 saves during the Fords' 10-8 victory. She also collected two groundballs during the win. Against Dickinson, the Fords' senior captain stopped eight shots in the weather-shortened 48 minute contest. She also picked up two groundballs in this contest.

Chenworth's efforts during the team's recent surge have helped Haverford climb the national rankings. The Fords are currently receiving votes in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Poll. Women's lacrosse will just have one game this upcoming week as the Fords make the quick trip to Bryn Mawr on Saturday with the opening draw scheduled for 1 p.m.
