2017 Haverford Women's Lacrosse Schedule

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's lacrosse team has announced its 2017 schedule. The Fords, under the direction of Head Coach Lauren Wray, will face off with three NCAA tournament teams from a season ago, including conference rivals and national semifinalists Franklin & Marshall and Gettysburg.

Haverford will return five of its seven players who scored at least 10 goals in 2016 as the Fords won at least 10 games for the fifth time in seven years, making the Centennial Conference tournament in each of the past two seasons and in three of the last four campaigns under Wray.

All-Centennial First Team performer Sarina Manetta (23 goals, 11 assists in 2016) highlights the returners. Molly Lausten returns from a 31-goal campaign and Madison Jones, a second-team All-Centennial pick, will anchor the back line.

The 2017 campaign will begin at York (Feb. 18) as the Fords are immediately challenged by a team that reached the second round of the NCAA tournament a season ago. The Fords then will host Christopher Newport (Feb. 25), a first time opponent, to wrap up the initial month of the season.

Haverford hosts another non-conference opponent as Randolph-Macon visits Swan Field for the first time on March 4. The Fords head on a spring break jaunt to the Sunshine State, facing Kenyon (Mar. 6) and Roanoke (Mar. 8) in Port Charlotte, Fla. before returning to the Main Line for road matchups with Eastern (Mar. 15) and Cabrini (Mar. 22). Conference play opens up in earnest on March 25 at home against McDaniel.

Haverford then travels to Lancaster for a showdown with reigning national semifinalist Franklin & Marshall (Apr. 1) before hosting Muhlenberg (Apr. 5). A trip to Carlisle, Pa. to face the Red Devils of Dickinson (Apr. 8) serves a precursor to a home matchup with another national semifinalist from a season ago, Gettysburg (Apr. 15).

The Fords head back out on the road for three of the final four contests in the regular season, traveling to Washington College (Apr. 19), Ursinus (Apr. 22) and across Lancaster Ave to Bryn Mawr (Apr. 26) before hosting a Hood Trophy rivalry matchup with Swarthmore (Apr. 29) on Senior Day at Swan Field.

The Centennial Conference playoffs begin May 3 with the semifinals taking place May 6 and the championship the next day (May 7). Haverford has been to the conference playoffs five times in program history including appearances in three of the past four seasons.
