HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford women's lacrosse team was defeated by visiting No. 3 Gettysburg on Saturday afternoon, falling by a final score of 16-5. Haverford was stifled by a tough Gettysburg defense as the two teams combined for just seven goals in the first half. Haverford is now 5-7 overall (1-4 CC) while Gettysburg improves to 11-2 (4-1 CC).

After Gettysburg tallied the opening goal of the contest with 27:39 remaining in the first half, converting a free-position attempt, Haverford took control of the momentum for two unanswered goals to go up 2-1 with 18:31 remaining. Allie Gibbons scored off an assist from Kate Sollee before Sollee scored an unassisted goal.

Gettysburg then rattled off a 4-0 run to head into the halftime break up 5-2 as Katie Willis scored her second and third goals of the contest in the stretch. The Bullets continued the run into the second half, taking an 8-2 lead before Gibbons stopped the run off an assist from Maura Grant. Gettysburg posted a second 4-0 run to go ahead 12-3 but Olivia DiRienz found the back of the net for Haverford with 11:56 remaining in regulation.

The Bullets had another 4-0 scoring stretch to take a 16-4 lead before Allie Gibbons took a feed from Sarina Manetta and converted with 1:42 remaining in regulation.

Tatiana Lathion got the assignment in goal, tying a career high with nine saves in her 60 minutes of work between the pipes. Defensively, Madison Jones and Emily Krupnick each forced two turnovers while Sarina Manetta had three draw controls to pace Haverford. Gibbons and Lathion each scooped two ground balls to tie for the team lead.

Caroline Jaeger had a game-high four goals for the Bullets while Shannon Keeler picked up 10 saves and tallied four ground balls. Cassie Smith had three caused turnovers for the visiting Bullets.

The Fords will return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Chestertown, Md. for a pivotal late season matchup with Washington College.  Haverford is on the road for three of its final four games, also making jaunts to Ursinus and Bryn Mawr before hosting Swarthmore to close out the regular season on Senior Day at Swan Field on Saturday, April 29.
