HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford junior midfielder Sarah Svetec was named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced in a release on Monday afternoon.

Svetec had a standout performance against Cabrini, picking up four ground balls, causing a turnover, and winning five draw controls as the Fords powered past the Cavaliers, 19-16.

The Lititz, Pa. product set or matched a career single-game high in each of the three statistical categories. Svetec is currently ranked second on the Fords with 14 draw controls, a mark that is good for seventh in the Centennial Conference.

Draw controls were crucial for the Fords as Haverford capitalized with a string of late goals on man-up opportunities. Haverford held the draw control edge on the afternoon, 22-15, turning away the Cavaliers with a posession-minded effort after Cabrini pulled even with a 9-0 run.

The Fords are currently 3-1 on the season heading into Tuesday night's 7 p.m. contest with Randolph-Macon in Ashland, Va. The Fords took down the Yellow Jackets 16-10 at Swan Field a season ago and will look to produce a similar result on the road. The Fords will then travel to Newport News, Va. to battle with Christopher Newport in a Thursday afternoon contest. Opening draw of the contest is slated for 4 p.m.
