HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford sophomore midfielder Anna Meyers and junior attacker Rina Rosnow have each been named to the All-Metro Region second team, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced in a release on Thursday afternoon. The 2018 season marks the 10th straight season that Haverford has placed at least one student-athlete on the IWLCA All-Region team and the second consecutive season that two Fords have been honored with All-Metro designation.
Meyers, a first-team All-Centennial Conference selection in 2018, led the Fords in ground balls (37) and draw controls (53). She was fifth in the conference in ground balls and was the conference's ninth-most prolific player in the draw circle. The Hopewell Junction, N.Y. product also caused 21 turnovers, good for third on the Haverford squad. In the Centennial Conference first round game against Dickinson, Meyers posted new career single-game highs in draw controls, ground balls and caused turnovers. Meyers' 53 draw controls in 2018 are tied for the third-most in the program's single-season history.
Rosnow takes home the honor after a season in which she was a key cog in the Haverford offense after missing all of last season due to injury. The Kirkland, Wash. product was fifth in the Centennial Conference with 48 goals and third in conference games with 27 tallies. As the focal scoring option for the Fords, Rosnow tallied multiple goals in 12 games, including five-goal performances against Cabrini (Mar. 10) and Dickinson (Apr. 7). A proven clutch performer, Rosnow had three game-winning goals in 2018. In just 32 career games, Rosnow has amassed 65 goals and 71 points.
The pair helped lead Haverford back to the Centennial Conference tournament in 2018. The Fords capped the season with 12 wins, the most since a 13-5 record during the 2013 campaign. In Head Coach Katie Zichelli's first year at the helm, the Fords spent ample time in the national spotlight, with consecutive rankings in the national coaches' poll and four straight weeks receiving votes.
In total, The IWLCA has honored 256 student athletes in Division III with a selection to one of the All-Region teams in 2018. These student-athletes are now immediately eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced in mid-June.
