Full Academic All-Area Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford junior attacker Allie Gibbons has been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team for the second-straight campaign, the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA) announced on Tuesday. The squad is nominated by and voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metro area. In order to be eligible for academic all-area consideration, a student-athlete must be in at least his second year at the institution and own a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or higher.

Gibbons, a Psychology major from Baltimore, was previously named the Centennial Conference women's lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year last month. Gibbons earned the honor after finishing with the highest grade point average among all junior or senior members of the All-Conference team. Gibbons picked up a second-straight second-team All-Centennial selection after a standout offensive campaign in her junior year. The Baltimore native and Psychology major tallied 56 points and registered 38 goals while chipping in 18 assists. Gibbons appeared in all 17 contests for Haverford in 2018.

She ranked within the top 15 offensive players in the Centennial in points, goals and assists while also pacing the conference's attackers with 21 caused turnovers this season. At the end of her third year on campus, she ranks 15th in Haverford history in goals with 109 and 18th in points with 143.

Chesnut Hill College's Hunter Leckonby earned the area's academic Peformer of the Year award.
