HAVERFORD, Pa. - For the second consecutive season, a Haverford College Women's Lacrosse player has been honored by the Centennial Conference for a breakout performance in the first weekend of the regular season. Hailey Morris becomes the latest to earn Centennial Conference honors, taking home Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Following in the footsteps of former teammate Allie Gibbons, who captured Offensive Player of the Week after setting a new program single-game points record in last season's lid-lifter, Morris paced a ferocious Haverford offense that erupted for 20 goals in a season-opening home victory over Moravian. The Baltimore native rattled the back of the net five times, while also dishing out two assists. The career-best performance from Morris included a caused turnover, a pair of ground balls, and three draw controls as the junior put all 10 of her shots on frame in the matinee.

Morris contributed four of those five goals in the first half, as the Fords built a 12-8 lead heading into the intermission. The psychology major looks primed for another strong year on the attacking line after finishing second on the team in goals (32) and fourth in points (56) a season ago.

In the first official weekly statistical rankings release from the NCAA, the high flying women's lacrosse offense ranks second in the nation in points per game (35) and assists per game (15). The squad's 22 caused turnovers on Saturday also puts the Fords on the top of that national category while the scoring offense is ranked seventh during the infancy of the 2020 season.

Morris and the Fords will return to action on Saturday, taking on No. 12 TCNJ in Ewing, N.J. Opening draw is slated for 1 p.m. as Haverford will be looking to take down the Lions for the second consecutive season after scoring an upset win over then-No. 3 TCNJ at Swan Field last February.
