SPARKS, Md. - The Haverford College Women's Lacrosse team (3-2) took down the Mary Washington Eagles (2-4) 9-6 Sunday afternoon on Tierney Field at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland.

Four players had multi-goal games for the Fords, as Brooke Epstein, Abby Bonner, Tiffany Mikulis, and Reilly Curran all found the back of the net twice against the Eagles. Daniela Martini dished out two helpers, while Mikulis collected four draw controls.

Eva Baumann and Mikulis paced the Scarlet and Black in ground balls with three, while Epstein, Bonner, and Lizzie Healy all scooped up two loose balls. Lizzie Symonds continued to deny shots in her second start of the season in between the pipes, making 11 saves and picking up her first career win for the Fords.

In a true back-and-forth first quarter that saw six goals between the two teams, it was Haverford who got on the score sheet first. Mikulis went on a 2-0 scoring run by herself, scoring the first goal of the contest, as well as the second goal that saw Mikulis find the back of the net during a player-down situation.

The Eagles then answered in a big way, going on a 3-0 scoring stretch of their own, including one player-up goal, to take a 3-2 lead with 2:32 remaining in the opening stanza. Reilly Curran was able to level the score at three for the Fords with 55 seconds left in the first, as both teams headed into the second quarter deadlocked at three.

Just two goals were scored in the second period, as Symonds was able to turn away three shots in the quarter from Mary Washington. Less than a minute into the second, Epstein fired off her first goal of the game to give the Scarlet and Black a 4-3 lead with 14:36 remaining in the first half. Katie Blair of the Eagles was able to even the game up at four at the 3:15 mark, as both teams found themselves knotted at four goals a piece at halftime.

Just like she did in the second quarter, Epstein began the third quarter with another goal, as the sophomore's opening goal of the second helped jumpstart a 4-0 scoring run for the Fords. Following the Epstein goal, a goal from Ellie Huges and two goals from Bonner gave the Fords a commanding 8-4 lead with 9:37 to go in quarter number three.

Following the offensive outburst by the Fords, Blair tacked on her third goal of the contest to trim the Haverford lead down to 8-5, as the Scarlet and Black went into the final quarter holding a three-goal advantage.

One goal from Mary Washington's Caeley Terapane, and one more goal from Haverford's Curran pushed the score to 9-6, but it was too little, too late for Mary Washington, as Haverford escaped with the win at the neutral site.

The next stop on the schedule for Haverford is Winchester Va., as the Fords take on Shenandoah, another team receiving votes in the IWLCA poll, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 14.
