Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College Women's Lacrosse first-year goalkeeper Lizzie Symonds has been named the Centennial Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office in a release on Tuesday morning.

Symonds is the second Ford to receive the honor this season, after junior Eva Baumann picked up the accolade on March 5, 2024.

The Emerald Hills, California product totaled 17 saves, three ground balls, and a 9.00 goals against average in a 1-1 week for Haverford that included an upset victory over 15th-ranked Christopher Newport.

After a six-save performance against Shenandoah on Thursday, Symonds stood tall in net in a 9-8 upset win over the Captains. The rookie made 11 saves, posting a 57.9 save percentage, a mark that included a clutch save off a free position-shot to maintain a one-goal lead with 2:58 remaining in the contest. The Westminster School product also scooped up two ground balls against CNU, which was Haverford's first win against a ranked opponent since 2022.

Since becoming a mainstay in between the pipes for Haverford, Symonds has recorded a 2-2 record with 40 total saves, posting a 54.3 save percentage and a 8.25 goals against average.

Haverford recently climbed into the ILWomen/IWLCA National Poll, taking the No. 25 ranking heading into Centennial Conference action.

You can catch Symonds and the No. 25 Fords Saturday, March 23, as Haverford kicks off Centennial Conference play with Dickinson at noon. The contest will be the annual "Play with Pride Game".
