Volleyball makes it three straight with sweep of Mules

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 22 Haverford College volleyball team picked up its third consecutive victory by defeating Muhlenberg College, 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-7), in Centennial Conference play on Wednesday evening. Haverford held the Mules to a -.063 hitting percentage, which marks the fourth straight victory the Fords have held an opponent below .100.

Haverford (16-2, 3-0 CC) hit .350 as a team, but got hotter as the match progressed. After hitting just .226 in the first set, the Fords hit .320 in the second and a scolding .542 in the third. Setter Kate Comey had 32 assists and spread the wealth with eight different players recording a kill. Both Rachel Salvo and Kelsey Cantwell led the way with nine kills. Cantwell hit a team-best .444. Laura Ramos single-handedly closed out the third set with five kills on five total attacks.

Muhlenberg (4-8, 0-2 CC) did not have a single player reach double digits in kills either. Phylicia Lee led the Mules with eight. The Scarlet and Black forced Muhlenberg into 21 attack errors.

The Fords will have their hands full Saturday as they host Johns Hopkins University in a rematch of last season's Centennial Conference semifinal at noon followed by No. 23 Eastern University at 4:30 p.m.
