Volleyball takes Dickinson and Elizabethtown

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 25-ranked Haverford College volleyball team defeated Dickinson College, 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-11), Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action. In the nightcap the Fords downed Elizabethtown College, 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 25-20, 25-9).

Haverford (24-3, 7-0 CC) hit .344 as a team and committed a season-low seven errors. Rachel Salvo collected 14 kills and hit .500. Kelsey Cantwell contributed nine kills and 11 digs. Rebecca Salvo added 18 digs while Olivia Coburn-Flynn had a hand in four blocks.

Elitsa Gosheva had a team-high 11 kills for Dickinson (6-14, 3-5 CC). Amanda Hayes recorded 12 digs to lead the Red Devils. As a team Dickinson hit just .115 and committed 10 service errors.

Against the Blue Jays, Rachel Salvo led the Fords with 17 kills and added 17 digs. Rebecca Salvo had 14 kills and a team-best 18 digs. Cantwell added 15 kills and 14 digs. Setter Kate Comey handed out 52 assists.

Paige Tanner had 12 kills and 14 digs for Elizabethtown. Molly Northway registered 11 kills and Crystal Agnew set up the attack with 43 assists.

Prior to the start of the Dickinson match seniors Rachel and Rebecca Salvo were honored along with their parents Teresa and John.

The Fords travel to Bryn Mawr College Monday for a 7 p.m. match.
