Two more wins for Fords on Friday

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Haverford College volleyball team won two matches on Friday evening at the Muhlenberg Buttermaker Tournament to remain undefeated on the young season. Haverford defeated both Moravian College (25-10, 25-18, 25-16) and DeSales University (25-15, 25-18, 25-23) by a 3-0 count.

Against Moravian, Kelsey Cantwell led the way with 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Cantwell recorded 13 digs for a double-double. Rachel and Rebecca Salvo chipped in with eight kills apiece and 16 and 13 digs, respectively. As a team, Haverford (7-0) had seven service aces.

In the second match of the evening, Cantwell and both Rachel and Rebecca Salvo posted double-doubles. Rachel Salvo had 15 kills and 15 digs, while Rebecca notched 13 kills and a team-high 17 digs. Cantwell had 10 kills (.400 hitting percentage) and 14 digs. Kate Comey turned in 47 assists, two service aces and one block solo.

The Fords will play two matches again on Saturday with the first match at 10 a.m. against Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The second match will be played at either 2 or 4 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.
