Volleyball trio named all-region

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After receiving All-Centennial Conference recognition Rachel and Rebecca Salvo and Kate Comey of the Haverford College volleyball team were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team Thursday. This is Rebecca Salvo's fourth all-region selection while Rachel has earned the honors each of the last three seasons.

Prior to Thursday's NCAA Regional quarterfinal match Rebecca led the Centennial with 425 kills and was second with 3.54 per set. Defensively, Salvo was second with 495 digs while averaging 4.12 per set.

Salvo averaged 2.97 kills and 3.20 digs this season. Her 341 kills were third-best in the Centennial. Salvo finished the season with 368 digs and was one of just four players in the conference with at least 330 kills and 330 digs.

Comey was the conference leader in assists (1,326) and assists per set (11.05) for the second straight year. With her precision at setter the Fords offense averaged a Centennial-best 13.54 kills per set and led the conference in that category for the two years she has run the offense.

On Thursday Rebecca Salvo was named Centennial Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season in addition to garnering first-team honors for the fourth time. Rachel Salvo also made first-team while Comey garnered second-team accolades.
