Volleyball takes two wins at tri-match

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The No. 21 Haverford College volleyball team picked up two victories on Saturday in a tri-match at Gettysburg College. In the first match, Haverford took down the Bullets, 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-17), in a rematch of last year's Centennial Conference championship. The Fords followed that up by sweeping (25-16, 25-9, 25-14) the University of Scranton.

Kelsey Cantwell registered a double-double against Gettysburg (10-6, 1-1 CC) with 12 kills and 11 digs. Cantwell also had a team-best five service aces. Rebecca Salvo tallied 11 kills and a team-high 15 digs. Haverford (15-2, 2-0 CC) held the Bullets to a -0.20 hitting percentage and just 19 kills in the match.

The Scarlet and Black came out swinging against Scranton (4-7) to the tune of a .440 hitting percentage. Rachel Salvo and Jenine Abbassi were a big part of the reason why. Salvo led the way with 12 kills and a .733 hitting percentage. Abbassi added 10 kills and hit .438. Rebecca Salvo also had a stellar match with eight kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Rachel Salvo also led the defense with 10 kills. Kate Comey fueled the offense with 30 assists against Scranton and had 58 for the day.

The Fords return home on Wednesday to take on Muhlenberg College at 7 p.m.
