Bergin inducted into alma mater's Hall of Fame

BETHANY, W.Va. – Haverford College volleyball coach Amy Bergin was inducted into the Hall of Fame of her alma mater, Bethany (W.Va.) College, Friday evening, Oct. 9, during Homecoming festivities.

Bergin, then Amy Stefan, was a four-year starter for both the volleyball and softball teams at Bethany. She continues to hold the softball program's career records for runs scored (129) and stolen bases (61) and graduated with the career mark for walks with 53.

On the volleyball court Bergin graduated second in career assists with 2,085 and still sits in fourth place on the school's all-time list. Her 188 block assists rank sixth in Bison history.

A 1999 cum laude graduate in physical education (sports management) from Bethany, Bergin started her collegiate coaching career at Marietta (Ohio) College as a volleyball assistant coach while earning her master's degree in education. Named the head volleyball coach at Haverford in 2002 she has compiled a record of 157-57 leading her team to three consecutive Centennial Conference titles as well as three straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
