Volleyball splits at Salisbury Invitational on Friday

SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 22-ranked Haverford College volleyball played two matches on Friday evening at the Salisbury Invitational, winning the first over Baldwin-Wallace College before losing its first match of the season to the host Seagulls in the nightcap. Haverford downed B-W, 3-1 (25-14, 25-22, 20-25, 25-10), and fell to Salisbury, 3-2 (15-25, 25-12, 21-25, 27-25, 20-22).

Salisbury took the Fords to their first five-set match this season, giving HC all it could handle. The Seagulls outhit Haverford (10-1) .494-.271 and tallied nine more kills (63-54).

Rebecca Salvo led the Scarlet and Black with 19 kills. Rachel Salvo added 14 kills and Kelsey Cantwell connected on 11 kills and had five service aces. Kate Comey set up the offense with 49 assists.

Haverford has little time to rest as they play again on Saturday at 10 a.m. against Richard Stockton College. The Fords take on Allegheny College at 2 p.m. to close out the weekend.
