Volleyball falls twice at CNU Invitational

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Haverford College volleyball team saw its four-match win streak come to an end with a pair of losses Friday at the Christopher Newport (Va.) University Invitational. The Fords fell to Salisbury (Md.) University, 3-2 (25-27, 28-26, 25-23, 22-25, 15-12), and to Washington & Lee (Va.) University, 3-1 (23-25, 27-25, 25-17, 25-16).

Against Salisbury, Laura Ramos led Haverford (9-11) with 16 kills to go along with 20 digs. Jenine Abbassi had 15 kills while committing just three errors. Kelsey Cantwell added 14 kills and hit .441. Kate Comey set up the offense with 53 assists.

Caitlyn Tranquillo led the Fords with 29 digs and Olivia Coburn-Flynn had five blocks.

Ramos once again led HC with 13 kills against Washington & Lee. Cantwell added 11 kills. Tranquillo went for a team-high 21 digs.

The Fords play two more matches Saturday, starting with an 11 a.m. contest against sixth-ranked Christopher Newport. In the afternoon HC takes on Virginia Wesleyan College at 3 p.m.
