Volleyball holds off Bryn Mawr for 3-1 victory

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College volleyball team took down feisty Bryn Mawr College, 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-12, 25-19), Monday evening at Gooding Arena. The Fords let an early lead slip away in the second set, but took the last two sets in convincing fashion to improve their win streak to six.

Haverford (15-12, 8-0 CC) had three players reach double-digits in kills. Both Kelsey Cantwell and Hayley Lowrance tallied 15 and Jenine Abbassi added 14 with a .417 hitting percentage. Olivia Coburn-Flynn had seven kills while Kate Comey registered six to go along with 39 assists. Cantwell had three service aces and 13 digs in addition to her solid offensive performance. Kaelyn Anderson and Caitlyn Tranquillo supplied the defense with 15 digs apiece.

Katie Merrill led Bryn Mawr (10-12, 3-6 CC) with nine kills and 15 digs. Mikecia Witherspoon went for eight kills and a match-high five blocks. Emma Wisniewski-Barker (20) and Emily Takeuchi-Miller (11) combined for 31 assists.
