Women's volleyball earns a split against the Capital Athletic Conference

SALISBURY, Md. – The Haverford College women's volleyball team earned a split of its matches at the Centennial/Capital Athletic Conference Showdown Saturday at Salisbury University. The Fords fell to the host Sea Gulls in four sets (25-19, 20-25, 25-20, 27-25) and defeated York (Pa.) College in five (25-23, 25-8, 22-25, 22-25, 15-10).

Outside hitter Laura Ramos and setter Haley Lowrance recorded double-doubles in the victory over the Spartan (6-5). Ramos had 18 digs and 17 kills, while Lowrance tallied 42 assists and 13 digs. Outside hitter Emily Mills added 10 kills and middle hitters Olivia Coburn-Flynn and Jenine Abbassi had nine each. The Fords blocked very well as a team, finishing the match with 14 total blocks (six solo, 16 assists). For York, outside hitter Julie Coombs had 18 kills and 13 digs.

In the opener against Salisbury (10-1) Ramos recorded a team-high 14 kills and nine kills. Outside hitter Caitlyn Tranquillo notched her first double-double of the year with 14 digs and 10 kills. Lowrance tallied 34 assists. The Sea Gulls received double-doubles from outside hitter Sam Seifert (11 kills, 10 digs) and setter Carley Todd (22 assists, 13 digs).

Haverford (4-7) visits Dickinson College for its Centennial Conference opener Wednesday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m.
