Ramos powers Fords past Ursinus, 3-0

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Outside hitter Laura Ramos recorded her ninth double-double of the 2011 season to lead the Haverford College women's volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Centennial Conference opponent Ursinus College Wednesday night in Gooding Arena.

Haverford used set scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-22 to win its first match at home in 2011 and increase its winning streak against Ursinus to 17 matches in a row. The Fords improve their overall record to 8-9 and 3-1 in the Centennial. Ursinus falls to 9-8 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

In the match Ramos recorded 19 digs and 16 kills, both match-highs. Middle hitter Emily Mills had 10 kills. Setter Haley Lowrance tallied 33 assists and libero Sarah Brody added 12 digs. As a team the Fords had an attack percentage of .269 (43 kills, 14 errors, 108 attempts).

The Bears got a team-best eight kills from outside hitter Anahi McIntyre. Outside hitter Kristin Hanratty added six kills. Setter Gina Powers had 13 assists. Libero Leah Masiello contributed 19 digs. The Bears were held to an attack percentage of .064 (24-17-110).  

The Fords visit the defending conference champion Franklin & Marshall for their next match Sunday, October 9 at 11 a.m.
