Fords fall to host Franklin & Marshall, 3-1

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Haverford College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 defeat to host Franklin & Marshall College in a Centennial Conference match Sunday morning in the Mayser Center.

The Diplomats (10-8, 5-1 CC) took the match with set scores of 25-20, 25-14, 16-25 and 25-18.

Outside hitter Laura Ramos notched her 10th double-double of the season in the loss for Haverford (8-10, 3-2 CC) Ramos recorded a match-best 24 digs and 13 kills. Setter Haley Lowrance had 23 assists and 11 digs to earn double-double number six in 2011. Outside hitter Caitlyn Tranquillo tallied 22 digs and six kills, while libero Sarah Brody had 19 digs.

Julie Harvey and Sydney Seydel led Franklin & Marshall with 15 and 11 kills, respectively. Harvey also had 10 digs. Caroline Hubbard contributed 41 assists and 14 digs. Katy May was the defensive leader for the Diplomats with 19 digs.

Haverford travels to Johns Hopkins for a tri-match Saturday, Oct. 15. The Fords will take on the host Blue Jays in a conference match at noon and face Frostburg State in a non-conference match at 2:30 p.m.
