Lowrance leads Fords to split in Baltimore

BALTIMORE, Md. – Setter Haley Lowrance recorded a pair of double-doubles to help the Haverford College women's volleyball team split its two matches Saturday afternoon at Goldfarb Gym. The Fords defeated non-conference opponent Frostburg State University, 3-1, and fell to host and Centennial Conference foe Johns Hopkins University, 3-1.

The set scores against the Blue Jays were 25-14, 25-17, 16-25 and 25-16. The Fords used set scores of 25-19, 25-20, 21-25 and 25-11 to defeat Frostburg State.

In the opener against Johns Hopkins, Lowrance recorded 21 assists and 12 digs. Outside hitter Laura Ramos totaled 21 digs and nine kills.  Middle hitter Janine Abbassi added eight kills. Outside hitter Caitlyn Tranquillo and libero Sarah Brody pitched in defensively with 19 and 10 digs, respectively.

Lowrance, Ramos and Tranquillo each had a double-double in the win over Frostburg State. Lowrance tallied 36 assists and 12 digs. Ramos contributed 18 digs and 18 kills. Tranquillo recorded 14 kills and 11 digs. Brody added a team-high 24 digs. As a team the Fords had an attack percentage of .432 (57 kills, six errors, 118 attacks).

Haverford (9-11, 3-3 CC) returns home to take on Centennial opponent Bryn Mawr College Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
