Volleyball rolls past North Park, 3-0, at Elmhurst Invite

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Haverford College volleyball team rolled past North Park University, 3-0, on the final day of play at the Elmhurst College Invitational. Earlier in the day, the Fords fell 3-0 to 20th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The Fords (18-8) registered their second victory over the Vikings (6-18) this season with set wins of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-20. Freshman Keri Godbe paced the offensive effort with 11 kills and classmate Meg O'Day continued her strong play with nine kills and a team-high .533 attack percentage. Senior Emily Mills also was effective on offense as she posted seven kills as part of a .339 attack percentage. Olivia Walsh added 26 assists and Nina Mutty chipped in with four assists and two service aces. Haverford was solid on the attack overall with a .340 hitting percentage in the contest.

Madison Fuelling and Mutty spearheaded the defense with 15 digs and 12 digs, respectively. 

Earlier in the day, the Fords came up against another formidable opponent as they took on the nationally-ranked Pointers (23-6). Mills led the attack with 10 kills (.529 attack percentage) as Haverford fell in three sets (25-13, 25-17, 25-15). Godbe helped the cause with nine kills and Walsh tallied 19 assists.

Mutty (18) and Godbe (13) both registered double-figure digs.

Seeking a spot in the Centennial Conference tournament, the Fords host Washington College on Oct. 24 in their final home match of the regular season. The contest against the Shorewomen begins at 7 p.m.
