Centennial releases preseason volleyball poll

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Centennial Conference volleyball coaches expect Haverford College to once again contend for a playoff spot as the Fords sat in fourth when the conference released its 2013 preseason volleyball coaches poll on Tuesday morning.

Haverford garnered 74 points in the coaches' voting process while Swarthmore College finished a mere one point ahead to claim third.

Johns Hopkins University with 100 total points was the unanimous choice for the top spot in 2013 with the Blue Jays receiving all 10 possible first-place nods as coaches are not permitted to vote for themselves.

Franklin & Marshall College received the remaining first-place vote and 90 points overall to land in the runner-up spot.

Gettysburg College (63 points) rounded out the top five spots of projected playoff participants. The Fords swept past the Bullets in the opening round of the conference playoffs in 2012 before falling to conference host F&M in the the semifinals.

Looking to participate in the conference semifinals for the 14th consecutive campaign, Haverford returns two all-conference players in sophomores Meg O'Day (first team) and Keri Godbe(honorable mention).
