Volleyball falls to Diplomats

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Haverford College volleyball team came up short in its bid to account for Franklin & Marshall College's first Centennial Conference loss of the season as the Fords fell, 3-0, to the host Diplomats on Saturday afternoon.

Haverford (11-5, 2-2 CC) dealt the Diplomats (14-2, 4-0) their lone conference setback of the regular season in 2012 and it looked to repeat the feat on Saturday at the Mayser Center.

The hosts kept their perfect Centennial record intact, however, with a straight set victory (25-17, 25-16, 25-16).

Nina Mutty tallied eight kills to lead the offense while Keri Godbe and Meg O'Day added seven and six, respectively. It was just the second time in 16 contests this season that Godbe did not reach double figures in kills.

O'Day also chipped in with three service aces. Freshman Abby Keller hit double figures in assists with 14.

Godbe paced the defense with 10 digs while Mutty tallied nine. Freshman Elena Garcia and Mutty each registered two block assists.

Freshman Ellie Ezekiel and junior Julie Harvey shared match-high honors with 10 kills apiece for the Dips while junior Caroline Hubbard tallied 25 assists. Sophomore libero Alyssa Sanchez led all players with 12 digs on the day.

Having completed a stretch of four straight matches on the road, the Fords return to Gooding Arena on Wednesday as they host Muhlenberg College at 7 p.m. in Centennial Conference action.
