Volleyball reaches 20-win mark with sweep of Bryn Mawr

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Haverford College volleyball team reached the 20-win mark for the second consecutive season with a 3-0 win over host Bryn Mawr College in Centennial Conference action on Wednesday night.

The sweep (25-11, 25-21, 25-12) by the Fords was Haverford's 18th consecutive victory over their rivals. Sophomore Meg O'Day  paced the balanced attack with 10 kills as eight different Fords tallied kills on the night. Haverford (20-7, 5-4 CC) registered an impressive.429 hitting percentage in the final set on its way to closing out the match.

Freshman Abby Keller and sophomore Olivia Walsh each reached double figures in assists with 16 and 11, respectively. Sophomore Nina Mutty was a force at the service line as she matched her season high with four aces.

Mutty was also active on defense with a match-high 12 digs. Junior Madison Fuelling and sophomore Keri Godbe helped the cause with 10 digs apiece. The team effort limited the Owls (12-15, 2-8) to a mere 19 kills in the match overall.

Bryn Mawr sophomore Rachel Ofili, who entered the contest leading the Centennial in hitting percentage and total blocks, came through with a strong performance as she tallied a team-high nine kills to go along with 2.5 blocks. Ofili's classmate Zoe Holman led the hosts with 11 digs while junior Danielle Preziuso contributed a match-high 17 assists.

The Fords, currently tied with Gettysburg College for the final spot in the Centennial tournament, close out the regular season tomorrow night against Washington College (18-8, 4-4) at Gooding Arena. The match begins at 7 p.m.
