Centennial Conference Volleyball Preseason Guide

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College volleyball team was picked to finish fifth in the Centennial Conference preseason coaches' poll. The Fords received one first-place vote and a total of 62 voting points. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.

John Hopkins, the defending Centennial Conference champion, received the most voting points (97) and first-place votes (7). Franklin & Marshall received three first-place votes for a total of 91 voting points after finishing first in the Centennial Conference regular season standings in 2013.

Muhlenberg was voted third while McDaniel finished just four points ahead of Haverford in fourth place.  Gettysburg, Swarthmore, Washington College, Bryn Mawr, Dickinson and Ursinus round out the rest of the poll.

The Fords return every player from a 2013 roster that won 20 matches for the second consecutive season.  Juniors Keri Godbe and Meg O'Day were named to the All-Centennial Conference first team last season. Godbe had 437 kills and O'Day had 365 kills to finish first and second in the conference. Godbe's 437 kills are the fourth most for a single season in program history.

Head coach Michele Benoit's squad begins their season by hosting the Haverford Invitational (Aug. 30-31). The team's first match is against Widener University on Aug. 30 at 1:00 p.m.
