Volleyball Goes 1-1 During First Day of Neumann Invitational

ASTON, Pa. – The Haverford College volleyball team split their two matches during the first day of the Neumann Knights Invitational on Friday. The Fords fell 3-2 to the Marymount Saints before defeating the Moravian Greyhounds 3-0.

The Fords began the tournament with a tough five-set loss to the Saints. Haverford won the first two sets 25-21 and 25-17 while Marymount won the final three sets, 25-16, 25-22 and 15-13 to score the victory.

Haverford came back in its second match of the night and picked up a sweep over Moravian. The Fords won 26-24, 25-16 and 25-14 to win their fifth contest of the year.

Head coach Michele Benoit's team wraps up the Neumann Knights Invitational tomorrow with matches vs. Scranton and Neumann. The match vs. Scranton begins at 1:00 p.m. while the Neumann match gets under way at 3:00 p.m. The Fords defeated the Knights 3-0 in the first match of the season last season in the Haverford Invitational.
