HAVERFORD, Pa. – Junior Meg O'Day received one of the highest accolades as the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) named her to the Division III All-American third team today. O'Day is the first Fords' player to be named as an All-American since Rebecca Salvo '10, Rachel Salvo '10 and Kate Comey '12 were awarded the honor after the 2009 season.

The junior ended the 2014 season as the Centennial Conference Player of the Year while also being named to the Newport News Regional All-Tournament team, the AVCA North All-Regional team and All-Centennial Conference first team.

O'Day is the fifth player from Haverford to be honored as the Centennial Conference Player of the Year and was just 11th player in conference history to be named to the first team three straight years. She led the conference in kills (458), total blocks (123), points (560.5) and was tied for second in attack percentage (.346). Her career attack percentage of .346 is the second best in conference history.

One of the greatest single-seasons in program history, O'Day set the program record for total blocks (123) while her kills were second best and attack percentage was third. She was named Centennial Conference Player of the Week on Sept. 29 and reached the 1,000 kill milestone on Oct. 4. The junior had at least ten kills in every match except for one and had at least one block in 29 of the 31 matches she played in.

The conference player of the year is also climbing up the all-time record list, placing first in attack percentage, fourth in kills (1,165), fourth in points (1,403.5) and sixth in total blocks (266).

The Fords' season ended in the NCAA Regional semifinal last Saturday. It was the first time that Haverford has gone to the NCAA Tournament since 2009 and fifth time in program history. Head coach Michele Benoit's team won 22 matches, the most since 2009 and finished with a 12-2 record at home.
