Volleyball Scores Votes in AVCA Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College volleyball team received votes (8 voting points) in the latest American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Division III top 25 poll.

The last time the Fords were ranked in the top 25 was Nov. 10th, 2009. Emory scored 62 of the 63 coaches' first-place votes to be selected as the No. 1 team in the poll. Calvin, Christopher Newport, Carthage and Juniata round out the top five. Haverford will play at Juniata on Oct. 16.

Haverford has gotten off to a 4-2 start with wins over Cabrini, CCNY, Stevenson and Elizabethtown. The Fords went 2-2 in the Haverford/Swarthmore Invitational with Keri Godbe being selected to the all-tournament team. In Haverford's 3-1 win over Elizabethtown, the team had four players register at least ten kills for the first time since Oct. 6, 2012. Godbe (67) and junior Valentine Courouble (51) rank in the top ten among Centennial Conference foes in kills while senior Meg O'Day (46) is just outside the top ten.

Head coach Michele Benoit's squad will now travel to Kean for a tri-match with St. Lawrence on Saturday (Sept. 12). Haverford will take on Kean at 11 a.m. and St. Lawrence at 1 p.m.
