Courouble Named Centennial Conference Player of the Week

Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Valentine Courouble has been named the Centennial Conference Volleyball Player of the Week as announced by conference officials. Courouble's honor is the first such award of her career as she shares this week's honor with Gettysburg's Lauren Bergin.

Courouble had a huge presence this week as she was named to the Stevens Invitational All-Tournament Team. The Fords' senior captain had 12 or more kills in each of her team's five matches. She started this stretch by helping to key Haverford's 3-1 win at Muhlenberg where she put down 12 kills.

Over the weekend, Courouble had a pair of matches in which she eclipsed the 20 kill mark. Her first such match came against Springfield when she totaled 22 kills against a team currently receiving votes in the national poll. She came back on Saturday with a 21 kill effort in the Fords' 3-1 win against FDU-Florham. Courouble finished the week with an average of 4.83 kills per set. She also racked up nine block assists and 18 digs during the past week.

Courouble's 3.67 kills per set currently rank second in the Centennial Conference. She is averaging 4.1 points per set, the third best mark in the conference. Courouble has 198 kills on the season in 583 attempts.

After this weekend's Centennial Conference action, volleyball is just a half game out of the final playoff spot and will have two more conference matches this upcoming week as the team wraps up the home portion of the regular season. The Fords will first host Bryn Mawr this Wednesday at 7 p.m. Senior Day for the team will be this Saturday in a key conference battle against McDaniel at noon. The Fords will also take on Baruch as part of the tri-match that day at 4 p.m.
