HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College volleyball junior co-captain Sara Matsumura has been named to Second-team All-Centennial Conference honors, the Centennial office announced on Monday morning. Matsumura picks up All-Conference honors for the second straight season, after earning an honorable mention designation a season ago.

In addition, the Salt Lake City, Utah product was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team for the third straight campaign.

Matsumura appeared primarily as the libero but also saw time as an outside hitter and was the conference's leader in digs with 487. She also ranked second in digs per set with 5.24 per frame.  In conference matches, Matsumura tallied 210 digs and was first in digs per set with six per frame. She tallied double-digit digs in each contest she appeared in this season, including a season-best 34 in a four-set victory over Washington College in Chestertown on October 10.

Matsumura also contributed a total of 11 service aces against Centennial competition and notched a career-best three total blocks at York on September 7. The chemistry major finishes her third season at Haverford with 1,432 career digs, good for ninth in program history. Her 4.70 digs per set in third in Haverford career history while her career reception percentage of .919 and career serve percentage of .938 also rank within the top 10 in the rich history of the Fords.

Franklin & Marshall swept the conference's individual awards, with sophomore setter Grace Maggioire taking home player of the year honors. Freshman middle blocker Allison Franke was named Rookie of the Year while Mary Kate Salko was honored as the Coach of the Year after the Diplomats finished with an undefeated record in regular season conference play.

The Fords will now await the announcement of All-Region awards, as the AVCA makes those decisions later this month.
