Centennial Conference Preseason Poll
HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Centennial Conference unveiled its 2023 volleyball preseason poll, a vote among the conference's head coaches, as Haverford was ticketed for a trip to this November's Centennial Conference playoffs. The Fords earned 61 voting points as the fifth place team in the preseason prognostication.
Defending champion Johns Hopkins was picked as the favorite in the preseason poll, receiving all 10 possible first place votes and 100 total voting points to earn top billing. Franklin & Marshall, the 2022 CC runner-up, collected the other first-place vote and tallied 89 points to finish second in the preseason poll. Swarthmore was picked third with 84 points, while Gettysburg (72), Haverford (61) and Dickinson (57) were also projected as playoff teams.
Rounding out the poll were Muhlenberg (43), Ursinus (36), Washington College (34), McDaniel (19) and Bryn Mawr (10) in seventh through 11th place, respectively. Haverford returns a pair of All-America honorable mention players in juniors Taylor Jones and Juliet Young, as that duo will be tasked with helping to guide a young squad that does not feature a senior. In 2021, Haverford reached the NCAA tournament for the sixth time in program history.
All of the action begins on Friday, September 1 with the annual Haverford Invitational inside Gooding Arena as the Fords host matchups with Augsburg and Stockton (Sept. 1) ahead of battles with Coast Guard (Sept. 2) and Lebanon Valley (Sept. 2) in what is sure to be a thrilling start to the campaign.Conference play will commence in late September, with the six-team Centennial tournament slated for Nov. 8-10-12 with the higher seeds hosting each tournament round.
