Haverford Athletics

  • Haverford had the most student-athletes (71) named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the third straight season of competition. The Fords finished with 172 Academic Honor Roll selections during the 2013-14 academic year.
  • 39 student-athletes were named to All-Centennial Conference teams.
  • Softball broke three program records including wins in a season (29).
  • Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Squad: Rosie Samide (women’s lacrosse), Alexandra Ranucci (women’s track & field), Harrison Elbert (men’s tennis), Alex Ferrara (women’s tennis), Elliott Schwartz (men’s track & field), Kyle Waney (baseball), Emily Winesett (softball).
  • Softball and baseball each won the Centennial Conference tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
  • Baseball won the Centennial Conference tournament with a 2-1 victory over host Gettsyburg College in 12 innings (the longest game in Centennial tournament history).
  • Men’s outdoor track and field runner Christopher Stadler was the NCAA Division III National Champion in the 5,000 meter run.
  • Women’s outdoor track and field runner Hope Rainey qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
  • Women’s tennis reached the Centennial Conference final for the first time in program history.

Baseball

  • Won the Centennial Conference tournament for the second time in the last three seasons with a 2-1 victory over host Gettysburg College in 12 innings (the longest game in Centennial tournament history).
  • Participated in the Mid-Atlantic Regional of the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second time in the last three years.
  • The Fords were the only team in the conference to steal more than 100 bases as they led the Centennial in stolen bases for the sixth time in the last seven years.
  • All-Centennial Conference - (Bergjans - first team, Falkoff - honorable mention, Miranda - first team, Ott- honorable mention)
  • Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll - (Bannard, Bergjans, Coulter, Fox, Kane, Miranda, Randazzo, Tentilucci)

William Bannard

  • Centennial Conference Tournament MVP
  • Paced the Centennial Conference in stolen bases with 26

Thomas Bergjans

  • D3baseball.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region first team (pitcher)
  • American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Mid-Atlantic Region first team
  • ABCA All-American first team (pitcher)
  • Established new program records for career strikeouts (263), career wins (22), single-season strikeouts (96), and single-season wins (9).
  • Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Year
  • Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team

Patrick Falkoff

  • Set the school record with 19 appearances
  • Tied the program record for saves in a season (7)

Casey Fox

  • Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week (March 31)

Nick Miranda

  • Tied the program record for hits in a game with five against Ursinus (April 16)

Kyle Waney

  • Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team

Softball

  • Went undefeated in the Centennial Conference tournament to capture the program’s second conference title.
  • Their 6-2 win over Muhlenberg College in the Centennial Championship game was the 200th victory of Jen Ward’s coaching career.
  • Recorded the program’s first two NCAA victories over Wheaton (Mass.) College (6-2) and Farmingdale State College (8-0) before falling in a heartbreaker to host Montclair State University, 2-0, in the regional final.
  • Established a new program record for wins in a season (29)
  • Set a single-season program record for fielding percentage (.957).
  • Registered the longest winning streak in program history with 10 straight victories from April 19 to May 9.
  • All-Centennial Conference -(DiCandilo - first team, Garlick - first team, Newman - second team, Tauriello - second team, Winesett - second team)
  • Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll - (Brody, Comerford, DiCandilo, Garlick, Newman, Winesett)

Dayle Comerford

  • Centennial Conference Tournament MVP

Jennifer DiCandilo

  • Graduated as softball’s program record holder in doubles (44), RBI (118).
  • Philadelphia Inquirer All-Academic Softball 

Elizabeth Newman

  • Graduated as softball’s program record holder in batting average (.388), on-base percentage (.457), runs scored (134) and hits (186).
  • Centennial Conference Player of the Week (March 24)

Jill Schnall

  • Montclair NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team
  • Hit a program-record nine home runs which tied for first in the Centennial Conference.
  • Centennial Conference Co-Player of the Week (April 7)

Brittany Stevenson

  • Established a new program record for saves in a season with four.

Sara Tauriello

  • Montclair NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team
  • Ranked first in the conference and 10th nationally in ERA (0.89).
  • Established new single-season program records for ERA (0.89), opponent’s batting average (.173) and wins (12).

Lauren Touey

  • NCAA Montclair Regional All-Tournament Team

Emily Winesett

  • Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team
  • Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week (April 21)

Men’s Lacrosse

  • The Fords had four different players score two or more goals in a 16-3 win over Mount Saint Mary on March 11.
  • Jack Bodine and Christian Clay led the team in scoring with 22 points.
  • Chris Christensen led the team with 17 goals.

Women’s Lacrosse

  • Claimed a 9-8 victory over Stevenson University, the eventual Commonwealth Conference champion (March 5).
  • Nine different players scored a goal in an 18-14 win over McDaniel, a Centennial Conference tournament qualifier. (March 29).
  • All-Centennial Conference - (Cullen - honorable mention, Perry - first team)
  • Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll - (Adler, Cullen, Fleming, Horn, Samide, Sockett)

Diana Perry

  • Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches (IWLCA) All-Metro Region first team

Men’s Tennis

  • Reached the Centennial Conference tournament for the fourth straight year
  • Won their first five Centennial Conference matches
  • Finished 7-2 in the Centennial Conference with their only two losses coming against the two conference tournament finalists (John Hopkins and Swarthmore).

Women’s Tennis

  • Registered its fourth straight double-digit win season
  • Qualified for the conference tournament for the sixth consecutive year
  • With a 9-0 victory vs. Gettysburg (April 26), the Fords clinched the third seed in the Centennial Conference tournament, the highest regular season finish in program history
  • Advanced the Centennial Conference final for the first time after taking down second-seeded Franklin & Marshall 5-3.
  • Rose as high as 10th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic South Region before finishing the season ranked 14th.

Men’s Outdoor Track and Field

  • Finished second at the Centennial Conference outdoor championships
  • The points earned by Christopher Stadler and Avi Bregman at the men’s track & field outdoor national meet helped the Fords tie for sixth in the final team standings.
