Haverford Athletics

  • NCAA Postgraduate Scholar: Tommy Bergjans - the eighth straight year a Haverford student-athlete has been honored.
  • Haverford had the most student-athletes (68) named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the fourth straight season of competition. The Fords finished with 152 Academic Honor Roll selections during the 2014-15 academic year.
  • 40 student-athletes were named to All-Centennial Conference teams.
  • Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team: Eric Caliendo (men’s lacrosse), Robyn Himelstein (women’s tennis), Dayna Kim (women’s lacrosse), Elizabeth Reikowski (women’s outdoor track & field), Chaz Schneider (men’s outdoor track & field), Emily Winesett (softball),
  • Men’s and women’s outdoor track & field were both represented at the NCAA Division III National Championship
  • Haverford won the Hood Trophy over Swarthmore for the 24th straight year by a 13.5-4.5 score.

Baseball

  • The Fords qualified for the Centennial Conference playoffs for  the eighth straight season
  • Haverford finished the season ranked 25th nationally in stolen bases (91) and 11th in stolen bases per game (2.6).

Casey Fox

Ben Verducci

  • All-Centennial Conference second team
  • Set a new career record and tied the program record with five hits vs. Monmouth (Ill.) (Mar. 13)

Softball

  • Advanced to the Centennial Conference Tournament for third straight season, the first time in program history this has been accomplished
  • The Class of 2015 graduates as the winningest class in program history with 97 career wins
  • Erin Brooks was named the Centennial Conference Coach of the Year
  • All-Centennial Conference (Comerford – first team, Koshinski – first team, Schnall – first team, Tatum – first team, Tauriello – second team)
  • Haverford set a new program record with four representatives on the All-Centennial Conference first-team

Dayle Comerford

Jill Schnall

Kristin Tatum

  • NFCA All-Region third team – third player in program history and first since 2006 to earn the award
  • First player in program history to lead the conference in slugging (.686)
  • Led the conference in home runs (seven)
  • Centennial Conference Player of the Week (3/23) 

Sara Tauriello

  • Led the Centennial Conference in ERA (1.35) for the second straight season
  • Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week (4/20)

 Men’s Lacrosse
 
  • The Fords won five games, four of which came on Swan Field
  • Haverford used a 10-0 run on Senior Day against Swarthmore in a 14-8 win against the rival Garnet
  • The Fords ran off three straight non-conference victories against Mount St. Mary (N.Y.), FDU-Florham and Gwynedd Mercy
  • Geoff Geppert led the team in all the major offensive categories, including goals (25), assists (8), points (33), shots (99), shots on goal (58), and man-up goals (4)
  • All-Centennial Conference (Caliendo – honorable mention, Geppert – honorable mention)

Women’s Lacrosse

  • Won at least 10 games for the fourth time in six years, finishing 11-8
  • Reached the Centennial Conference Semifinals for the third time in program history
  • Avenged earlier season loss with a 15-12 road victory over Muhlenberg in the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament
  • Trailing by as many six goals, the Fords came back to defeat the No. 4 Gettysburg College Bullets 11-10 in double overtime at Swan Field (Apr. 21)
  • All-Centennial Conference – (Perry – first team, Robbins – second team, Chenworth – second team, Manetta – honorable mention)

Men’s Tennis

  • ITA All-Academic Team for 15th straight season
  • 9 ITA Scholar-Athletes (fifth most in DIII): Luis Acaba, Joshua Lederman, Zack Mason, Caleb Mayer, Dais Nakayama, Eli Phelps, Keisuke Sawada, Rafi Small, Benjamin Soloway
  • Won 11 matches for the fourth straight season, the first time with 11 or more wins in four straight years since the 1991 through 1995 seasons
  • Haverford has now reached at least the Centennial Conference semifinals in each of the past five years and nine of the last 10 overall
  • Avenged a regular season defeat to Dickinson with a 5-2 win at home to start the Centennial Conference Tournament
  • Ranked as high as No. 11 in ITA Atlantic South Region Team Poll

Women’s Tennis

  • Went 15-5 overall, the team’s most wins since the 1999 season
  • The Fords have now won at least 12 matches in each of the past five years
  • Haverford has now made the Centennial Conference Tournament in each of the last seven seasons
  • The Fords used a 5-0 win at home against Ursinus for its sixth trip to the conference semifinals during that span, including each of the past four seasons
  • Rose to as high as No. 10 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic South Region.

Charlie Marquardt

  • USTFCCCA Division III National Track Athlete of the Week (May 19)
  • Ran the eighth quickest time in Division III history in the 1,500m (3:43.84) at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet (May 11)
  • Centennial Conference Champion (800m, 1,500m)
  • Just the fifth person and third Ford in conference meet history to win both the 800m and 1,500m races. 
  • Centennial Conference Outstanding Track Performer
  • Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week (Apr. 6, Apr. 20)

David Roza

  • NCAA qualifier in the steeplechase
  • Centennial Conference Champion (steeplechase, 5,000m)
