Haverford's oldest sport getting its due with prestigious invitation

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Cricket anyone?

The answer, if you have travel plans to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., in mid-April, should be a resounding yes.

Haverford College's cricketeers, the only collegiate XI in the nation, have been invited by baseball's Hall to play a demonstration fixture, or game to the uninitiated, in Cooperstown on Sunday, April 17.

Long-time head coach Kamran Khan will lead the team through its demonstration match, with an eye on promoting both the sport and the College.

The honor has not gone unnoticed in local circles as Philadelphia's KYW Newsradio station has posted an audio interview with Khan on its Web site.

Haverford's XI will get in three fixtures, all at home on Cope Field, before its trip to the Hall of Fame.
