Cricket rolls past Philadelphia CC during busy weekend of competition

PHILADELPHIA - The Haverford College cricket team finished a busy weekend of competition with a 1-1 record.

Winning by a margin of 91 runs, the Fords cruised past Philadelphia Country Club on Saturday.

Haverford batted first and scored 175 runs for two wickets and 30 overs while Philadelphia managed only 84 runs. Leading the Fords on the day were Sameep Thapa (51 runs), Andriy Mshanetskyy (44 runs), Brian Rafferty (34 runs) and Neilay Shah (20 runs).

Facing Merion Cricket Club on Sunday, Haverford fell in a close match. Again batting first, the Fords tallied 140 runs in 25 overs. Top scorers included Abdullah Khan (51 runs), Shah (17 runs) and Jesse Ingber (15 runs).

Merion answered with 141 runs with one ball left to edge Haverford.

The alumni will compete against the varsity on Saturday at Cope Field at 1 p.m.
