Daniel "Danny" Rothschild '15 enjoyed his study abroad experience in Berlin, Germany, last year so much that he had to find a way back. Now, he has. Rothschild, 22, of Evanston, Ill., has earned a 2015-16 U.S. Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Grant (ETA) and will spend a year in Germany.

He plans to teach English to primary or secondary school students in the German state of Hesse, most likely in the area of Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, or Mainz.

Rothschild, a history major with a German minor, already has teaching experience, including as a German teaching assistant and as a Writing Center tutor at Haverford College.

"The ETA program seemed like a perfect way to bring together my love of teaching and my desire to live in Germany again," he says. "I'm most looking forward to continuing to improve my German and immersing myself even more deeply than I did during my semester abroad."

The Fulbright program will begin in the fall. Prior to that, Rothschild will go to Berlin for an internship through the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship and the John B. Hurford '60 Center for the Arts and Humanities.
