Cricket Takes on PCC and Amwell

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College Cricket team took two tough losses this weekend in falling to the Philadelphia Cricket Club (PCC), 161-85, and Amwell Valley Cricket Club, 59-58.

On Saturday at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, the home team - led by skipper Andy Bhattacharya, retired (not out) after 40 runs and slugged its way to 161 runs. Haverford's Chris Garling took two wickets and Rina Ntagozera took one. 

Haverford got off to a strong offensive start, with opening batsman Atreya Dey hitting for 24 runs. The Fords could not keep up that production despite Daniel Waranch hitting for 11 runs and Alexandros Lefteratos hitting for 10. After 25 overs, Haverford had scored 85 runs for nine wickets. 

The Fords also fell on Sunday against Amwell Valley. Haverford's highest scorer was Raghav Bali with 10 runs. The team ended its innings with just 58 runs. Amwell overtook that score in just 9.5 overs. 

The cricket team will welcome the British Officers Club to Cope Field this Saturday with the match scheduled to begin at noon.
