Cricket Announces Fall Portion of 2018-19 Schedule

Fall 2018 Cricket Schedule

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College Cricket team has announced the fall portion of its 2018-19 schedule, a slate that includes seven weekend matinee contests on Cope Field in September and October. 

Haverford begins the season with a showdown against British Officers Cricket Club on Sunday, September 9 at noon. The season-opener will be the 50th all-time matchup between the two sides.

On Saturday, September 15, the defending Philadelphia Area Intercollegiate Champions return to intercollegiate play against Penn. The matchup is slated for noon. Intercollegiate action continues with Temple making its first of two appearances on the Haverford campus this fall on Saturday, September 22 at noon. The Haverford XI then welcomes Malgudi Cricket Club on Sunday, September 23 at noon. 

On Saturday, September 29, the Fords will match up with Philadelphia's Prior Cricket Club at noon. The two sides last faced in 2011 and have played a total of 36 times dating back to 1974. The September slate wraps up with a visit from New Jersey's Amwell Valley Cricket Club on Sunday, September 30. The contest is scheduled for 11 a.m. 

On Saturday, October 6, the Fords will reprise its matchup with Temple at noon. Haverford has won its last three contests against the Owls. 

After reaching new heights in 2017-18 with an undefeated spring season and an intercollegiate title, the Haverford squad will by lead by captains Andrew Cornell and Nathanie Rolfe in 2018-19. Kamran Khan returns for his 45th season at the helm of the program.
