Hometown: Seongnam, Korea
High School: Bugil Academy
Major: History

Study abroad location/school: London School of Economics (LSE) and Political Sciences (Full-Year)

What classes did you take while studying abroad/which were your favorite?
I took four classes in total: History of Muslim-Jewish Relations, Pre-Industrial Economic History, Modern Latin American Economic History, and Contemporary Europe. Contemporary Europe was a class which was a geography class that focused on various socioeconomic issues within the European Union. I'd say I liked History of Muslim-Jewish Relations the most because it gave me a lot of useful background information for my potential thesis topic.

Most interesting/memorable moments from the semester abroad?
My weekly commutes to Golders Green with a good friend of mine for some extraordinary hummus, and when I got to join up with the team once more for the cricket tour in May.

Why did you decide to study abroad?
I just thought a change of scenery would be nice, and I wanted to see how I'd fare in a big city like London after being at Haverford for a couple of years.

What are your future plans?
Ph.D. in history, and being involved in academia in one way or another.

How did studying abroad help your academic and/or professional career?
The classes I took at LSE helped me approach history in a different way than I'm used to (particularly my economic history classes) while further augmenting the academic skills I had developed at Haverford.

What did you do to prepare for the upcoming season while your teammates participated in the non-traditional season?
I was fortunate enough to practice with LSE's Cricket Club at Lord's Cricket Ground's nets for the year. I also spent a significant chunk of my time abroad in the gym doing lifts and other exercises that specifically targeted my weak points.
