HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College cricket team has announced the spring portion of its 2019-20 schedule with six regular season contests slated for Cope Field on the Haverford campus. All of the contests are slated for a noon start time.
The Fords begin the season on Saturday, April 4, hosting Merion Cricket Club. Home action continues on Sunday, April 5, as Germantown Cricket Club visits campus for a noon match time. On Saturday, April 11, Haverford takes on British Officers at noon. An Intercollegiate Cricket battle with Temple is on the docket for Saturday, April 19, while the Philadelphia Intercollegiate Cricket Final is slated for Saturday, April 25. Haverford captured the intercollegiate crown during the 2017-18 campaign, and will look to return to the pinnacle in 2020.
The Haverford XI then takes on Amwell Valley on Sunday, April 26 to wrap up the regular season. The Philadelphia International Cricket Festival will return for its 2020 edition, its 29th annual. Teams from around the world will descend on the area from April 30-May 3, with a full schedule of matches taking place throughout the Delaware Valley at Evansburg, Germantown, Merion, Haverford, and the Philadelphia Cricket Grounds. The final is slated for Philadelphia Cricket Club on May 3.
The Fords wrapped up the fall schedule with a 4-2 record, including four consecutives victories to begin the season. That stretch was highlighted by triumphs over spring foes Germantown and British Officers. Haverford will be looking to avenge a narrow loss to Temple in the fall finale.
