Following the clash with Swarthmore, men’s lacrosse has officially ended its 2024 season. Haverford completed the season with a 7-9 record overall, going 3-5 in the Centennial Conference for a second consecutive year.
The Centennial Conference leading scorer Reid Tietjen, paced the Scarlet and Black in goals with six. With his sixth goal of the contest, Tietjen reached the 100 point mark in just his 56th game for Haverford.
The Centennial Conference’s leading scorer Reid Tietjen continued his offensive prowess in Saturday’s contest, pacing Haverford in goals with three and assists with two. Ronan West collected seven ground balls, while eight different Fords recorded one caused turnover.
This win marked Haverford’s first triumph over Washington College since the 2018 season and equals the program’s largest margin of victory against the Shoremen.
Will Graves fired home the sudden-victory goal in the second overtime. Jacob Abraham (pictured) was stellar with 19 saves as the Fords grabbed their first win over F&M in 11 years.
Haverford's offense was firing on all cylinders Sunday afternoon, eclipsing the 26 goals scored twice in program single-game history, most recently exactly 28 years ago against SUNY Maritime.
Matt Richards scored a career-high seven goals in the contest, notching the sixth most goals in a game in school history with the standout performance.
A season-high five goals by Evan Wolpert paced the Fords in scoring, while Reid Tietjen, Will Graves, and D’Andre Chaney also got onto the scoresheet for the Scarlet and Black.
After finding the back of the net four times in Haverford’ last contest, Reid Tietjen continued his hot start to the 2024 season, pacing the Fords in goals with four against the Pride.
Carrington and the Fords are poised to reach the Centennial Conference tournament for the eighth time in school history, and the first since the 2018 campaign.
On the sidelines this season will be Head Coach Richard Carrington, who is in his first season with the Fords. Carrington joined Haverford from Amherst College, where he served as the defensive coordinator and assistant coach for the Mammoths for the past two seasons.
