Challenging weekend continues for men's squash

AMHERST, Mass. - Haverford College's men's squash team continued its challenging weekend at the Pioneer Valley Invitational, taking on 24th-ranked Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon after battling the nation's 23rd-ranked team Friday. The No. 42 Fords gained experience against top-level competition but fell to the Cardinals by a 9-0 score.

Haverford moves to 4-3 with the loss while Wesleyan improves to 7-3.

The Fords received strong outings from a number of players including Laurenson Ward, Peter Boal and Bret Marlowe.

Ward was solid against Raheem Logan at No. 6, pushing his Wesleyan opponent hard throughout the match before succumbing 3-0 (11-9, 11-9, 11-7).

Boal challenged Daniel Sneed at No. 3 but lost his match by scores of 11-5, 11-5 and 11-6. Marlowe chipped away a little more with each game against Jason Brandner at No. 9, falling by scores of 11-2, 11-6 and 11-7.

Haverford closes out the weekend with a 9 a.m. match Sunday against 32nd-ranked Boston University.
