Men's Squash Starts 2014-15 Season With 2-0 Record

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Haverford College men's squash team began its season with two wins, defeating New York University 5-4 and Vassar College 8-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Kenyon Hall.

The Fords recorded wins at the No. 2-6 ladder positions to secure the victory over NYU. Sophomore Aaron Horwitz, junior Laurenson Ward, freshman Peter Dudley, and junior Will Greer did not drop a game in their wins. NYU picked up wins at the No. 1 and No. 7-9 ladder positions. Sophomore Chris Hoogstraten lost in five games to NYU's Morris Lipman (11-7, 9-11, 3-11, 11-9, 11-5) and junior Alex Egilman also lost in five games, falling to Matt Schumann (11-5, 9-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-4).

Haverford took down the host school, Vassar, with wins from its No. 2-9 ladder postions. Other than a five game loss by junior Nathan Vestrich-Shade, the Fords did not drop a game.

The men's squash team had five players go 2-0 on the day, Dudley, Greer, Horowitz, Ward and senior Zach Kaden. It marks the first time that the Fords have started a season 2-0 since the 2012-13 season.

Head coach Niki Clement's team will host the No. 7 Franklin and Marshall Diplomats on Friday at 6:30 p.m. before heading to Dickinson on Saturday for a match scheduled at noon.
