Men's Squash Records 8-1 Victory over Penn State

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's squash team won its fifth match of the season, already matching its win total from last year, by defeating the Penn State Nittany Lions 8-1 at the GIAC Squash Courts on Saturday afternoon.

Junior captain Nathan Vestrich-Shade was victorious at the No. 1 ladder position over Ahmad Alhazeem in three games (12-10, 11-3, 11-3). Sophomore Aaron Horwitz beat Josh Pau 11-4, 11-6, 11-5 while junior captain Laurenson Ward dropped just nine points in his three game victory. Freshman Peter Dudley took down Nicolas Velez 11-5, 11-6, 11-5 while senior Zach Kaden won the final two games to win at the No. 6 ladder position. Freshman Zach Cole was an 11-5, 11-3, 11-5 winner while sophomore Chris Hoogstraten was triumphant in four games. Freshman Shilin Jog also recorded a win in four games at the No. 9 position.

Camilo Cardona had the only point for Penn State, beating junior Will Greer in four games.

Dudley has now won four straight matches and is 6-1 on the season. Cole, Kaden, Hoogstraten, Snow have also won two consecutive matches. Haverford has six players with a winning percentage over .500 this year.

The Fords are now 5-2 on the season with the victory over the Nittany Lions. Head coach Niki Clement's squad will take a break before returning for its alumni matches on Jan. 10 at 1 p.m.
