2017-18 Haverford Men's Squash Schedule

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's squash team has announced its 2017-18 schedule. The Fords will host a total of 16 matches, including seven home contests at the GIAC Squash Courts.

The squad will look to follow up on a 2016-17 campaign that was nothing short of historic. The team notched a program-record 15 victories and a No. 33 national ranking by virtue of capturing the Chaffee Cup at the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships.

After opening play by hosting the annual alumni match on Saturday, November 4, the team heads to the Naval Academy Round Robin in Annapolis, Md. where the Fords will take on Washington and Boston University.

Last season, the Fords faced Washington on two occasions, taking down the Huskies at the Navy Round Robin before also dispatching them in the CSA Team Championships at Harvard. Haverford is 2-0 all-time against Boston University, facing the Terriers last at the 2014 CSA Team Championships.

The Fords host their only home contest of the 2017 portion of the schedule on November 18 as rival Swarthmore visits the GIAC Squash Courts. Haverford is 11-0 against the Garnet dating back to the 1994 season.

On December 2, Haverford heads to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to take on host Vassar and Bates. Haverford is 17-12 all-time against Vassar including nine straight victories over the Brewers. The Fords will be looking for their first win over Bates, a program Haverford has not faced since 1998.

After the winter holiday break, Haverford hosts midweek matches with Tufts and Connecticut College (Jan. 17).  The Fords will look to get their first victory over the Jumbos and take down the Camels for the first time since 2003.

Following the midweek home date, the Fords are back on the road to Western Massachusetts to take on Wesleyan, Colby, Hamilton, Stanford and Connecticut College (Jan. 19-21).  The match with the Cardinal of Stanford will be the first meeting between the two programs since a 2007 neutral site meeting.

February begins with home matches against Dickinson and NYU (Feb. 3) ahead of the final home matches of the season against Boston College and Bucknell (Feb. 10). Last season, Haverford defeated both Boston College and Bucknell at the CSA Team Championships en route to capturing the Chaffee Cup.

The 2018 CSA Team Championships are slated for February 23 to February 25 in Princeton, N.J.

Haverford graduates co-captain and CSA Player of the Chaffee Cup Aaron Horwitz but returns the rest of the ladder, including co-captains Peter Dudley and Zach Cole. After reaching a new high win total in 2016-17, head coach Niki Clement will enter her eighth season at the helm with an experienced group of upperclassmen ready to lead the Fords to another title.
