Season Review: Men's Squash Finishes With Highest Ranking Since 2004-05 Season

Signature Wins: The Fords opened the 2018 portion of the schedule with a 5-4 win over No. 29 Connecticut College (Jan. 16) ... Haverford began the Pioneer Valley Invitational with a win over No. 30 Wesleyan (Jan. 19) …The win was the first for the Fords against Wesleyan in the history of the program, in a series that dates back to 1995 … A 7-2 triumph over No. 32 Stanford (Jan. 20) helped the Fords to a 7-4 start through the end of January … The month of February began with wins against No. 35 NYU (Feb. 3) and No. 34 Bucknell (Feb. 10) … Perhaps the most emphatic win of the season came against No. 27 Hamilton in the CSA Team Championships in Middletown, Conn. (Feb. 23). … Haverford took down the Continentals for the first time since 2002 with a 5-4 decision…  The Fords posted three victories against teams ranked above them in the CSA Rankings in 2017-18 ... Haverford also took down No. 29 Connecticut College and No. 30 Wesleyan earlier in the year at the Pioneer Valley Invitational.

Season Notes: The Fords take the No. 28 ranking into the offseason, the best year-end ranking for Haverford since the 2004-05 season … Haverford reached the 10-win plateau for the third time in the last four seasons … Senior co-captain Peter Dudley became the program's all-time wins' leader with 46 wins … Dudley registered his 45th career win in a win over Hamilton ... Dudley overtakes Tim Saint '02 … Zach Cole reached the 40-win plateau as well, becoming just the third Haverford leader to reach that mark for a career … Tate Miller represented the Fords at the CSA Individual Championships for the second straight season … Fitz Dougherty had a breakout first-year campaign with a 14-3 record, the second-most wins in single-season program history … Dougherty's .824 winning percentage was also second in the program's history.

Looking ahead: The Fords will have to replace senior co-captains Peter Dudley and Zach Cole but return a Ladder that includes depth in every class. Yash Singh, Ryan Dukarm and Alex Liu will all return as part of the senior leadership while Tate Miller will return to the top of the ladder. A promising first year class will be back with another year of experience and sights set on taking Haverford to the next level.
